A Gaian Tarot Retreat

When was the last time you slowed down to hear the profound pulsations of Mother Earth?
How might the tarot be a means of listening to Gaia's whispers, cries, and laughter?
You are invited to spend a weekend of ceremony, council, exploration, and celebration with your creation-loving peers. In the splendour of a Southern Ontario autumn, we'll settle into our natural human pace, blend the tarot with other wisdom ways, and invite Earth to teach us how to be more conscious inhabitants of Her body.
Limited to 36 participants, this Gaian Tarot Retreat includes:
• A keynote talk by Joanna Powell Colbert, creatrix of the Gaian Tarot
• Workshops with Joanna and with local teachers/practitioners of shamanism,
intuitive guidance, tarot, plant essences, and circle process
• A Saturday evening musical performance by Craig Olson
• An insight-gathering circle
• Opening and closing ceremonies
• 6 meals
• 2 nights accommodation
• Free time for quiet walks in the woods
About the Workshops . . .
Connecting with Mama Gaia: a Gaian Tarot Circle with Joanna Powell Colbert
Deepen your relationship with the natural world in the Place where you live. Join us for an intimate circle in the autumn woodlands at the conference center. We will spend time both in Sacred Circle and in solo discovery, practicing nature observation techniques and journaling. We'll also learn a Dance of Life that honors the four directions. (Bring any Tarot deck with you, a Gaian if you have one. Also bring a journal and pen.)
Afternoon Workshops (choose 2 of 4):
1. We the Ancestors: A Tarot Conversation with Earth's Future Beings with James Wells
The generations after us want to know what we're doing about our current planetary challenges. Inspired by tarot imagery, we'll hold council with them and gain courage for what we're called to do.
2. Life Choices, Life's Purpose with Bev Haskins
Let the tarot reveal how your choices in this lifetime serve your specific purpose in the process of healing our world.
3. Repairing our Bridge to Gaia with Andrea Mathieson
In this time of profound planetary change, we are being called to listen to the Soul of the World in ways we have forgotten and in ways we have never conceived. This workshop introduces simple yet radical forms of deep listening that integrate body awareness, imagination, and intuition.
4. A Celebration of the Sacred: The Sound and Healing of an Inspirited Drum with Jeannette McCullough
This is an opportunity to experience an ancient Siberian approach to "doctoring" through an inspirited frame drum to request healing or information for self and/or the Earth, or be receptive to what the spirits offer, as Jeannette move amongst you and her drum works on your behalf. This is mystical knowing through direct revelation.
Saturday Night Concert with Craig Olson. Craig is an award-winning songwriter, singer and multi-instrumentalist from the Pacific Northwest. He will share a concert of alt-folk-rock songs that express his love for the natural world.
About the Retreat Centre . . .
Canterbury Hills Retreat Centre, a 72 acre retreat centre in in Southern Ontario Canada, is set in a unique Carolinian Forest Environment. Here, you can walk among white pine, blue beech, aspen, honey locust and shag bark hickory, and even come across several deer.
Canterbury Hills provides all the necessities needed for a delightful time away. Shared accommodation and washrooms in the main lodge and a nearby three level house, with meeting rooms and wood burning fireplaces in each location. Marked trails and a nearby waterfall help make your leisure time rejuvenating. All meals are provided in the main lodge dining area.

Registration is limited to 36 people. We expect to sell out, so be sure to register early!

***IMPORTANT: Be sure to let us know any necessary dietary restrictions. Rooms are double or triple occupancy, so let us know if you have a roomie in mind. Please indicate which 2 of the 4 afternoon workshops you would like to attend by listing a 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice of workshops.
THINGS TO BRING: You are invited to bring drums, rattles, and/or other instruments for the ceremonies. Also bring a journal, and a camp-style foldable chair for an outdoor circle Saturday morning. You can bring anything you like to place on the altar for the duration of our time together (you'll take it home again at the end). While the focus is on Gaian-centred tarot, you can bring any tarot deck with you.
