Six of Air, Fire, Water and Earth

The Gaian Tarot Sixes express the qualities of community, reciprocity and peak experience in their respective elemental suits.

Six of Air

Six of Air

The community awakens together and greets the new day with praise and thanksgiving expressed through prayer, song and drumming. As we gather with others of like mind at festival or on retreat, we gain perspective and insight into the big, soulful issues of our lives. As we set our intent together in ritual space, the power to change our personal and planetary lives is magnified many times over.

The saying goes, “You can’t make room for the New in your life until you’re grateful for what you already have.” By cultivating a practice of gratitude, we make room for the Great Mystery to respond in kind.

Divinatory meaning: Expressing gratitude and thanksgiving as a community. Gaining clarity and insight by spending time with others of like mind. Setting an intent for change in your personal life or the life of the planet, and being supported in that intent by others. Invoking the East in the sacred circle.

Six of Fire

Six of Fire

It's festival time! With nightfall comes the lighting of the bonfire and the arrival of the drummers and the dancers. The energy builds until it reaches a blazing peak of creative and erotic power, and we are entrained and entranced. Together we fan the flames of the sacred fire, we raise a cone of power and release it — and are left utterly transformed.

Divinatory meaning: Raising and releasing energy in community for magic, healing and transformation. Experiencing an altered sense of reality. Being charged with power at the center of the circle. Playing your own instrument, your own contribution to the communal dance. Celebration, exuberance, exhilaration! Invoking the South in the sacred circle.

Six of Water

Six of Water

“Mermaid” sisters gather together to celebrate the peak of Summer as sunset falls on the longest day of the year. We are naked and innocent, with hearts wide open to embrace each other. We weave a sensuous, spellbinding web of love and pleasure as we sing, "we are the flow, we are the ebb . . . " We slip between the borders of earth and sea, night and day, human and seal — to the place where magic begins.

Divinatory meaning: Open hearts, close connections and joy as we circle together with beloved friends. Ecstatic experiences. Self-blessing, blessing each other, being rocked and nurtured by Mama Ocean. Knowing our tribe expands to include the four-leggeds, the winged ones, the finned and flippered ones. Invoking the West in the sacred circle.

Six of Earth

Six of Earth

At the local Farmers' Market, vendors and customers exchange energy in the tangible form of money for goods. We buy our greens and carrots from the farmer who lives down the road, and in doing so we support her commitment to farming organically and sustainably. In return, we receive the freshest and most delicious foods that nourish our bodies and spirits. Sometimes we get stories with our groceries — of the toddler who helped picked those golden flowers just that morning; of the Big Rain that almost wiped out the tomato crop but the sun came out just in time; or a shared memory of long days spent in fragrant lavender fields. This is Soulful Shopping indeed.

Divinatory meaning: Giving and receiving, the exchange of money and goods, trade, barter, sustainable farming and business practices. Your generosity and support of others circles back to you, and increases your own prosperity and health.
